Zool.|ˈmaɪkrəʊtiːn, -aɪn| [f. mod.L. subfamily name Microtinæ (f. generic name Microtus (F. von P. von Schrank Fauna Boica (1798) I. 66), f. micro- + Gr. ὠτ-, οὖς ear): see -ina2.] A. n. A member of the rodent subfamily Microtinæ, which includes voles and lemmings. B. adj. Of or pertaining to this subfamily.
