Micarta|maɪˈkɑːtə| Also micarta. [perh. f. mica + It. carta paper.] A laminated electrical insulating material, originally consisting of paper, mica, and enamel: now a proprietary term for one composed of layers of paper or fabrics bound by a resin and used esp. in the form of sheets and tubes.
