metacercaria, n. Zool.|ˌmɛtəsɜːˈkɛərɪə| Pl. -iae. [f. meta- 4 + Cercaria n.] The (usu. encysted) final larval form of a trematode into which a cercaria develops prior to assuming the adult form in the definitive host.
