‖ metacarpus Anat.|mɛtəˈkɑːpəs| [mod.L., altered from Gr. µετακάρπιον metacarpion.] That part of the hand which is situated between the wrist and the fingers: in vertebrates generally, that part of the manus which is situated between the carpus and the phalanges.
