melissin Chem.|mɪˈlɪsɪn| Also melissine. [f. Gr. µέλισσα bee + -in.] A substance obtained by boiling a mixture of myricin (myricyl palmitate) and potash; called also melissic, melissyl, myricic or myricyl alcohol.
