Gr. type µελάνωµα (occurring in late Gr. with the sense ‘blackness’), f. µελανοῦσθαι: see melanosis, and cf. carcinoma and other names for kinds of cancerous or morbid growths.] A melanotic growth; esp. a tumour consisting largely of black pigment.
