maxillo- taken as comb. form of maxilla in the sense ‘pertaining to the maxilla and..’; so maxillo-mandibular, maxillo-palatine, maxillo-pharyngeal, maxillo-premaxillary, maxillo-turbinal, etc. (see Syd. Soc. Lex. 1890).
