matrist, n. and a. Psychol.|ˈmætrɪst, ˈmeɪtrɪst| [f. matri- + -ist.] A. n. A person whose behaviour or attitude is influenced or dominated by the mother. Cf. patrist n.2 B. adj. Pertaining to or exhibiting such influence or domination.
