marquois Surveying.|ˈmɑːkwɔɪz| [app. a blunder for F. marquoir marking instrument, ‘a sort of ruler used by tailors’ (Hatz.-Darm.).] Used attrib. in marquois scale (and triangle), an apparatus devised for the purpose of drawing equidistant parallel lines with speed and accuracy. Sometimes written Marquoi's, Marquois's, as if the genitive of a proper name.
