maprotiline, n. Pharm.|məˈprəʊtɪliːn| [f. mapro-, of unkn. origin + -tiline var. of -tyline (in amitriptyline n., protriptyline n., etc.).] A tetracyclic antidepressant structurally related to the tricyclics, and usually administered in tablet form as the hydrochloride; 3-(9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracen-9-yl)propyl(methyl)amine, C20H23N .
