Mapharsen, n. Pharm. (chiefly U.S.).|mæˈfɑːsən| Also mapharsen. [f. the initial letters of meta-amino para-hydroxyl + arsenic n.1] A proprietary name in the U.S. for an organic arsenical drug formerly given intravenously in the treatment of syphilis; the hydrochloride of 3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyloxoarsine, (HO)(H2N)C6H3·AsO .
