‖ malerisch, a.|ˈmaːlərɪʃ| [G., ‘painterly’, f. maler painter.] After H. Wölfflin's use (1915 Kunstgeschichtliche Grundbegriffe): of or pertaining to a manner of painting characterized more by the merging of colours than by the more formal linear style; painterly.
