Nuttall, 1818), f. the name of William Maclure (1763–1840), American geologist.] A deciduous North American tree, Maclura pomifera, of the genus so called, belonging to the family Moraceæ and bearing an inedible fruit resembling an orange; the Osage orange or bow-wood.
