anodize, v.|ˈænədaɪz| [f. anode + -ize.] To cover (aluminium or its alloys) with a protective layer of aluminium oxide by means of electrolysis. Hence ˈanodizing vbl. n., ˈanodized ppl. a., covering, covered, with such a layer; anodiˈzation, the process of anodizing; ˈanodizer, apparatus used for anodizing.
