‖ zubrowka, n. (ʒuˈbrufka, Russ. zuˈbrofkə) Also zubrovka. [Pol. żubrówka, Russ. zubrovka, derived forms of Pol. żubr, Russ. zubr European bison. The plant (a member of the cereal family) is said to be a favourite food of the animal. Cf. zubr n.] Vodka flavoured with the stalks of Hierochloe australis, a central and eastern European species of sweet-grass.
