Zingg Petrol.|zɪŋ, tsɪŋ| The name of Theodor Zingg (b. 1905), Swiss meteorologist and engineer, used attrib. with reference to his system of classification of pebble shapes, in which two ratios formed from three mutually perpendicular diameters are used to assign a pebble to one or other of certain basic shape classes.
