loperamide, n. Pharm.|ləʊˈpɛrəmaɪd| [Prob. f. chloro-2 + piperidine n. + amide n.] An opiate drug, C29H33N2O2Cl , which inhibits peristalsis and is given orally as the hydrochloride in the treatment of diarrhoea.
