ankylostomiasis Path.|ˌæŋkɪləʊstəʊˈmaɪəsɪs| Also anchylo-. [mod.L., f. Ankylostoma (see below) + -asis.] A disease, characterized chiefly by iron-deficiency anæmia, caused by a nematode worm (Ankylostoma duodenale, or some similar species) parasitic in the intestines; also called hook-worm disease, tunnel-disease.
