Yenan|jɛˈnæn| [a. Chinese (Pinyin) Yan'an.] The name of a town in northern Shaanxi province, China, which was the headquarters of the Chinese Communist Party in the years 1936–49, used attrib. to designate this period in the history of the Party, or to describe the principles and policies evolved by it at that time.
