ligularia|lɪgjʊˈlɛərɪə| [mod.L. (H. Cassini 1816, in Bull. Sci. Soc. Philomatique 198), f. L. ligula strap, referring to the shape of the ray-florets.] A herbaceous perennial plant of the genus so called, belonging to the family Compositæ, often native to China or Japan, and bearing yellow flowers.
