a. n. One of an order of coleopterous insects having tarsi adapted for swimming (Brande Dict. Sci. 1842); also, a crustacean of the genus Remipes (Webster 1847).
b. adj. Having feet that are oar-shaped, or used as oars (Webster 1864).
