ˈlife-saving, a. [See life n. 16 b.] Of or pertaining to the saving of life from drowning, shipwreck, etc. Hence life-saving station, a coastal or beach building with life-saving equipment and life-savers. Also as vbl. n., the saving of life (from drowning).
