The name of the capital of Tibet, used attrib. in Lhasa apso to designate a small long-coated dog, often gold or grey and white, belonging to a breed originally developed there, and formerly called the Lhasa terrier, a name also once used for the Tibetan terrier (Tibetan). Also ellipt.
