Wales I. 88 Its Queensland Aboriginal name is ‘Yapunyah’ but its common name in western New South Wales and Queensland is ‘Yellow Jacket’, owing to the colour of its bark. 1912J. H. Thozetiana, and that species also has names variously spelt and pronounced. ‘Yappunyah’ is one of these variants. ‘Yipunyah’ is another spelling I have seen. ]
Either of two white-flowering Australian trees of the genus Eucalyptus (family Myrtaceae), E. ochrophloia and E. thozetiana (also more fully yapunyah tree). Also: the wood of this tree; honey produced by bees from the flowers of this tree. Cf. lapunyah n., napunyah n.
