anhydrous, a.|ænˈhaɪdrəs| [mod. f. Gr. ἄνῡδρ-ος waterless (f. ἀν priv. + ὕδωρ water) + -ous.] 1. Chem. Having no water in its composition: said of salts, crystals, destitute of water of crystallization, etc. Cf. anhydride.
