‖ lauter, a. Brewing.|ˈlaʊtə(r)| [G. läuter vbl. stem of läutern to purify, refine, strain.] Involved with, used in, or resulting from the refining process, esp. in Comb. as lauter tub, lauter tun; lautermash (see mash n.1 1), refined liquid, wort. Hence ˈlautering vbl. n., filtration.
