[Fr.; lit. ‘ox tongue’.] 1. A name variously applied to certain boragineous and other plants with rough leaves, as Echium vulgare, Helminthia echiodes, Borrago officinalis, etc., for most of which the etymologically synonymous name bugloss has been applied.
