A name given to the whole of the male organs of a flower.
1839in Lindley Introd. Bot. 172. 1857 Henfrey Elem. Bot. §196 The stamens collectively constitute the andrœcium. 1870Bentley Bot. 208 The andrœcium constitutes the whorl or whorls of organs situated on the inside of the corolla.
