† land-damn, v. Obs. rare—1. trans. ? To make a hell on earth for (a person). The sense is uncertain; the text may be corrupt. The alleged survival of the word in dialects, with the sense ‘to abuse with rancour’ (E.D.D.), appears to be imperfectly authenticated.
