1760J. Lee Introd. Bot. iii. v. (1765) 182 Lanate, woolly, when they are covered as it were with a spider's web. 1826Kirby & Sp. Entomol. IV. 275 Lanate (Lanata), covered with fine, very long, flexible and rather curling hairs like wool. So lanated a., in the same sense.
