lactoferrin, n. Biochem.|læktəʊˈfɛrɪn| [ad. F. lactoferrine (Blanc & Isliker 1961, in Helvetica Physiol. Pharmacol. Acta XIX. C13): see lacto-, ferro-, -in1.] A protein found in milk and other secretions, whose iron-binding properties have a bactericidal effect.
