labradoodle, n. Brit. |ˈˌlabrəˌˈduːdl|, U.S. |ˈˌlæbrəˌˈdud(ə)l| [‹ Labrad- (in Labrador n.) + -oodle (in poodle n.).] A dog cross-bred from a Labrador retriever and a poodle; such dogs considered collectively as a breed. Originally developed with the aim of breeding a dog with the Labrador's temperament and the poodle's hypoallergenic coat, for use as a guide dog for people allergic to dog hair.
