Gr. κυν-, κύων dog + -uren-, irreg. f. οὖρον urine n.1: see -ic 1.] kynurenic acid: a crystalline carboxylic acid, C10H7NO3, that results from the metabolism of tryptophan and is excreted in the urine of man and various animals; 4-hydroxyquinoline-2-carboxylic acid.
