kwaito, n. S. Afr. Music. Brit. |ˈkwʌɪtəʊ|, U.S. |ˈkwaɪtoʊ|, S. Afr. |ˈkwaɪtəʊ| [‹ Isicamtho kwaito, apparently > adj. + -to (in Amakwaito, the name of a township gang).] A type of South African popular dance music incorporating elements of hip-hop and house music. Cf. kwaai adj. 2.
