kudu|ˈkuːduː| Also 8– (S. Afr.) koedoe, 8–9 coodoo, 9 koodoo, koudou. [Xosa-Kaffir, given as iqudu in Davis' Kaffir Dict. (1872).] Either of two African antelopes, Tragelephas strepsiceros, the greater kudu, or T. imberbis, the lesser kudu, which is confined to East Africa; the male of the former has spirally-twisted horns, attaining in full-grown specimens a length of 3 feet or more.
