kiotome Surg.|ˈkaɪəʊtəʊm| Also ciotome. [irreg. for *kionotome, f. Gr. κίων pillar + τοµός cutting. (Cf. cionotome.)] An instrument invented by Desault for dividing pseudo-membranous bands in the rectum or bladder; also used for removing the tonsils.
