‖ Khedive Hist.|kɪˈdiːv| (Also 7 quiteue.) [a. F. khédive, a. Turk. (from Pers.) khedīv, khidēv prince, sovereign.] The title of the viceroy or ruler of Egypt, accorded to Ismail Pasha in 1867 by the Turkish government.
