One of the categories of Japanese Noh plays in which the chief character is female and the theme romantic. It is usually presented third in the sequence of five plays of different categories which makes up a performance of Noh. Also ellipt. katsura.
1916Fenollosa & Pound Noh 15 Kazura, or Onnamono, ‘wig-pieces’, or pieces for females, come third. Many think that any Kazura will do, but it must be a ‘female Kazura’, for after battle comes peace.1932B. L.
