Kat stitch|kæt stɪtʃ| [f. Kat, abbrev. of Katharine, in ref. to Katharine (Catherine) of Aragon who was thought to have invented the stitch: see stitch n.1 9.] In lace-making, a stitch which forms a star-shaped ground net.
