kaempferol Chem.|ˈkæ-, ˈkɛmpfərɒl| Also kampherol |ˈkæmfərɒl|. [f. mod.L. Kaempferia, generic name of the plant (K. galanga) from which it was first obtained, f. the name of Engelbert Kaempfer (1651–1716), German physician and traveller: see -ol.] A yellow crystalline flavonoid, C15H10O6, that occurs alone and in glycosides in various plants; 3,4′, 5,7-tetrahydroxyflavone.
