(Fr. analcime, Ger. analzim) Gr. ἀν priv. + ἄλκιµ-ος strong, given by Haüy ‘in allusion to its weak electric power.’ For this Dana substitutes the more analogous form analcite, f. Gr. ἀναλκής weak + -ite.] A mineral belonging to Dana's Zeolite section of Hydrous Silicates, consisting mainly of silica, alumina, and soda, usually with lime and potash, occurring in trap rocks.
