ˈjaspachate, ˈjaspagate Min.|-keɪt| [a. F. jaspagate, ad. L. iaspachātes (Pliny), a. Gr. ἰασπαχάτης, f. ἴασπ-ις jasper + ἀχάτης agate.] The same as agate jasper: see jasper n.1 1. ‘Iaspachates must have been an agate in which bluish and greenish shades (Iaspis) predominated’ (Dana Min. 195).
