‖ jalebi, n.|dʒəˈleɪbiː, -ˈlabiː| Also jelabi, etc. [Hindi, Urdu jalebī, Bengali jilāpi, jilipi; cf. Arab., Pers. zalābīya, Pers. zalebiya frittered doughnut.] An Indian sweetmeat made by frying a coil of batter and then steeping it briefly in syrup.
