jalapinolic, a. Chem.|ˌdʒæləpɪˈnɒlɪk| [tr. G. jalappinolsäure jalapinolic acid (W. Mayer 1854, in Ann. d. Chem. u. Pharm. XCII. 128), f. jalappin (now jalapin) jalapin + -ol -ol: see -ic.] jalapinolic acid: the dextrorotatory form of 11-hydroxyhexadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2)4CHOH(CH2)9COOH, a crystalline derivative of palmitic acid obtained by hydrolysis of jalapin.
