itaconic, a. Chem.|ɪtəˈkɒnɪk| [Formed by arbitrary transposition of letters from aconitic.] Of, pertaining to, or derived from aconitin. itaconic acid, C5H6O4, an acid isomeric with citraconic and mesaconic acids, obtained in the dry distillation of citric acid. Its salts are iˈtaconates.
