amphistylic, a.|æmfɪˈstaɪlɪk| [f. Gr. ἀµϕί on both sides + στῦλ-ος pillar + -ic.] Having pillars or piers on both sides: applied to the skulls of certain sharks, having piers supporting both upper and lower mandibular arches.
