irredentist|ɪrɪˈdɛntɪst| [ad. It. irredentista, f. (Italia) irredenta unredeemed, unrecovered (Italy).] In Italian politics (after 1878), an adherent of the party which advocated the recovery and union to Italy of all Italian-speaking districts subject to other countries. Also in extended use (see prec.). Also attrib. as adj.
