irisin Chem.|ˈaɪrɪsɪn| [a. G. irisin (O. Wallach 1886, in Ann. d. Chem. CCXXXIV. 374), f. G. iris iris n. + -in -in1.] A fructan present in the rhizome of the yellow iris, Iris pseudacorus.
