[n. of action from med.L. invultuāre, invultāre (in OF. envouter, 13th c. in Hatz.-Darm.), to make a likeness, f. in- (in-2) + vultus countenance, visage, likeness.] The making of a likeness, esp. the waxen effigy of a person for purposes of witchcraft.
