† wandelard Obs. rare—1. [a. AF. wandelard (13th c. in Chardry Petit Plet 979 and 14th c. in Bozon Contes lxiii); latinized (‘vir valde wandelardus’) in Wright's Pol. Songs (Camden Soc.) p. 49. In these three instances the word would seem to mean ‘extortioner’, but this sense may be merely contextual. Doubtless of Teut. origin; possibly from the G. personal name Wandalhart; cf., however, MHG. wandel, crime.] ? A criminal, traitor.
